Strain-Database.com ("the Service") is a cannabis strain research database operated by CannAI UG (haftungsbeschränkt) ("we", "us", "our"). We aggregate publicly available information about cannabis strains and breeders for educational, scientific, and informational purposes.

By using this website, you accept these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

3. No Commercial Activity

This website:

• Does not sell cannabis, cannabis seeds, or any controlled substances
• Does not facilitate purchases or connect buyers with sellers
• Is not affiliated with any dispensary, seed bank, or retailer
• Does not provide medical, legal, or cultivation advice

4. Data Accuracy & Disclaimer

Information is aggregated from publicly available sources and community contributions. We make no guarantees regarding accuracy of strain data, THC/CBD percentages, effects, or genetic lineage. Cannabis strains vary based on growing conditions and phenotype expression. Always independently verify information before making any decisions.

5. User-Generated Content

By submitting content to the Service (including but not limited to reviews, strain data, corrections, and images), you grant CannAI UG a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute such content in connection with the Service and its promotion.

You represent and warrant that:

• You own or have the right to submit such content
• Your content does not infringe any third-party rights
• Your content is accurate to the best of your knowledge
• Your content complies with all applicable laws

We reserve the right to remove any user-generated content at our sole discretion.

6. Intellectual Property & Database Rights

Strain names, breeder names, and associated genetic information are property of their respective owners. We aggregate publicly available factual information under applicable research and fair use provisions.

The website design, code, original content (including AI-generated descriptions, curated datasets, and enriched strain profiles) are owned by CannAI UG.

Database Producer Rights: The Strain-Database.com database is protected under the sui generis database right pursuant to §§ 87a–87e of the German Copyright Act (Urheberrechtsgesetz, UrhG) and Directive 96/9/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 1996 on the legal protection of databases. The selection, coordination, arrangement, and enrichment of data in this database represent a substantial investment by CannAI UG.

The extraction and/or re-utilization of the whole or a substantial part of the contents of this database is prohibited without the prior written consent of CannAI UG. Repeated and systematic extraction of insubstantial parts of the database is equally prohibited where it conflicts with the normal exploitation of the database or unreasonably prejudices the legitimate interests of CannAI UG.

7. Content Removal (DMCA / Takedown)

If you believe any content on the Service infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact us at contact@strain-database.com with:

• Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
• Identification of the infringing material and its location on the Service
• Your contact information
• A statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized

We will review and respond to valid takedown requests within 14 business days.

8. Automated Access, Scraping & Data Mining

You may not use automated tools — including but not limited to scrapers, crawlers, spiders, bots, scripts, or data mining software — to systematically access, extract, index, or download content from the Service without our prior written permission.

Specifically, the following activities are prohibited:

• Systematic or bulk downloading of strain data, images, descriptions, or any other content
• Mirroring, reproducing, or creating derivative databases from our data
• Circumventing rate limits, access controls, or technical restrictions (including but not limited to using proxies, VPNs, Tor, rotating IPs, or multiple accounts)
• Using the Service to train machine learning or AI models without written permission
• Accessing the Service through any means other than our publicly documented interfaces (website and API)

Violations of this section constitute infringement of our database producer rights (§§ 87a–87e UrhG) and may result in civil and criminal liability under German and European law.

9. API Terms of Use

CannAI UG provides a public API for accessing strain data, subject to the following conditions:

• Rate Limits: API usage is subject to rate limits (currently 60 requests per minute). These limits are technical access controls and circumventing them by any means is prohibited.
• Personal & Research Use: The free API tier is provided for personal, educational, and non-commercial research purposes only.
• Commercial Use: Any commercial use, resale, sublicensing, or redistribution of data obtained via the API requires prior written agreement from CannAI UG.
• Attribution: Any published work, application, or service that displays data obtained from our API must include visible attribution: "Data sourced from Strain-Database.com"
• No Bulk Export: Using the API to systematically download or replicate the entire database or a substantial portion thereof is prohibited.
• Suspension: We reserve the right to suspend or revoke API access at any time for violations of these Terms or usage that negatively impacts platform performance.

10. User Responsibilities

By using this Service, you agree to:

• Comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction
• Use information solely for lawful purposes
• Be of legal age in your jurisdiction
• Not attempt to disrupt, overload, or abuse the Service
• Not submit false, misleading, or harmful content
• Respect the automated access and API restrictions set out in Sections 8 and 9

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CannAI UG and its representatives shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Germany.

13. Changes to These Terms
